52-Year-Old Mother Seeks N1.5m for Chronic Pneumonia Treatment

Mrs. Olubunmi Oyeneye, a 52-year-old mother of two from Ibadan, is urgently appealing to the public for ₦1.5 million to undergo treatment for a severe case of right pneumonia with mild lamellar effusion.

For over three years, she has been battling this debilitating illness, which has drained her family’s resources and left her in dire financial need. Speaking to Vanguard, she shared her heartbreaking struggle.

“I never imagined I would find myself in this situation. At first, I thought it was a spiritual attack. I visited several churches, praying for healing, but my condition only worsened,” she explained.

Three-Year Struggle with Chronic Pneumonia

According to Mrs. Oyeneye, her health challenges began three years ago. After several failed attempts at spiritual solutions, she finally sought medical care and was diagnosed with chronic pneumonia affecting her right lung.

“I have been fighting this for three long years, and it’s taken everything from me,” she said. Despite multiple visits to both public and private hospitals, financial limitations have stalled her treatment.

A medical report from Beacon Health Diagnostics Centre, Ring Road, Ibadan, confirmed her condition, noting streaky and patchy opacities on her right lung base, with doctors recommending urgent medical intervention. The cost of the treatment has been estimated at ₦1.5 million.

Emotional Toll and Plea for Support

Mrs. Oyeneye, who lives at No. 25, Akako, Odo-Ona, Ibadan, expressed the emotional burden her illness has caused.
“It’s devastating to feel like you’re fighting this battle alone. My family has tried their best, but they are just as helpless as I am. I never thought I would have to appeal to strangers for help,” she said tearfully.

She added, “Every little bit counts, and I am grateful for any support that comes my way. I just want to live and take care of my children.”
